What we collect

Your dog's photo, the names and words you type for the card, the email address you give at checkout, and, like any website, your IP address and browser details.

When you start a card, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a bot, is sending it. Cloudflare sees your IP address and browser details for that check.

The emails we send

Every box that asks about email starts unticked, and you never need to tick one to buy. Every reminder or news email has an unsubscribe link.

• The link to your preview, so you can find it again. No box needed.
• Emails about an order you placed: your card is ready, a refund went through. No box needed.
• Reminders about a preview you haven't bought yet, for that order only. Only if you ticked the box asking for them.
• A reminder before the big day you told us about. Only if you ticked the box asking for it.
• Barkday news and offers. Only if you ticked the box asking for them.

Who handles your email

• Stripe takes your payment and your email at checkout, and sends your receipt.
• Resend sends our emails about your order.
• Klaviyo sends reminders and news to people who ticked a box for them, once we start sending them.

Ad sharing

When you visit or buy, our ad pixels and our server tell Meta and TikTok about it so we can measure our ads; at a purchase our server also sends your email, only in hashed (scrambled) form. To opt out, use Your Privacy Choices, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, or email us at hello@bark.day.

Cookies

• bd_vid: our visitor id, so we know a visit and a later purchase are the same person. 400 days.
• _fbc: the Meta ad you clicked to reach us. 90 days.
• ttclid: the TikTok ad you clicked to reach us. 28 days.
• _fbp: Meta's browser id, which we set in Meta's format when our ad pixels run. 90 days. _ttp: TikTok's own, once its pixel runs. As long as TikTok sets.
• bd_same: keeps your own order page's buttons working on older browsers. Strictly necessary. One year.
• bd_optout: remembers that you opted out of ad sharing on this browser. 400 days.

What we already sent to Meta or TikTok before you opted out can't be taken back from them.

How long we keep it

• Photos and videos for a card nobody bought: deleted after 30 days.
• The email on an order nobody bought: deleted after 90 days.
• Except: someone who ticked the box for news is kept until they unsubscribe, even if they never buy, rather than deleted at 90 days.
• What we sent Meta and TikTok about a visit or purchase: emptied after 30 days.
• IP address and browser details: cut down after 90 days.
• When you unsubscribe, we keep a record of it, so an unsubscribed address stays unsubscribed.
• Paid orders: kept for our order and tax records.

Your choices

Unsubscribing from our emails does not opt you out of ad sharing, and opting out of ad sharing does not stop our emails. They are separate choices.

On Your Privacy Choices you can opt out of ad sharing: our ad pixels stop, and Meta and TikTok get only a limited-use signal that a purchase happened. Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are never shared with ad platforms.
